7/6/2014-7/8/2014 – (Kelly)

Hello everyone,

Its been a while since i last posted. We’ve been having a ton of fun with our cousins Vinny, Alex, Sophie, and Angelina. We went jet skiing (not that we dont do enough of it already) , played ping pong, played tennis and soccer, and also went to a bunch of fun dinners with them. All of the days consisted of somewhat the same thing but all were fun so i decided to group them together into one big post.

Here is a ton of pictures from our few days together.

Our aunt Dina made us tons of wonderful meals that really hit the spot. We had such a good time in Morehead City with our cousins and aunt and uncle. I really wish we could hang out with them more often. It was a fun filled few days and I hope that we can hang out with them soon sometime again!

Today we hung out at the house and played ping pong. But later that day we all went to a mini beach by jet ski. That was a lot of fun. We were racing the skis and playing games and it was all just a lot of fun. Tomorrow is the last day were visiting and I hope it’s awesome!

Today was an awesome day. We got to hangout with our cousins for the first time in a while.  Then we chilled and played ping pong for a while. Then later that day we had to go get our skis at the house we left them at. The family’s house that we left the skis at we’re very nice and even gave us food. After the ride back to the docks we went home took showers and went out to dinner.  I hope tomorrow will be just as fun!

Laid up in Virginia Beach, not advancement.

Day after Arivial

Hurricane Arthur threw us a curve ball… we needed to stay put for a few days.  In the meantime we took advantage of all that Va. Beach has to offer.

7-2

Kelly & Qwin went fishing off the pier, Matt tried surfing a couple times before the ocean came up.  I laid back had a couple drinks and just relaxed.

A highlight for me was seeing my old friend Mary, we actually got to go out for a wonderful sushi dinner with her and her two sons Tim 19 and Danny 15, they are two fine young men, Nice job Mary! :-)

Dinner was super and very filling, the boys couldn’t even finish everything… and that’s not normal!

So basically the next couple days were R&R that were filled with some fine meals and easy living.

7-3

We had a couple great breakfasts a Big’s Sams, its funny,  but when you aren’t running the boys nor I couldn’t eat as much!  The first couple days of running, you would think we haven’t eaten for a week,  today was a little different… all of us just couldn’t eat that much… thank goodness!

Today became a little busy… I needed to go to West Marine and replace the two GPS units that broke down on the 1st, we also had to move and consolidate our rooms from two to one because of the holiday weekend… it was a little crammed  however we worked it out.

After getting the units I needed to head back to the Rudee Inlet Station Marina, Pat and Cassin (the Boss) were great to deal with and anytime you need to travel to Rudee please use these guys… they are ACES!

As good furtune would have it I bumped into a few fine folks from Va. also berthing at Inlet Station, Jason, Milo and their fine wives where gracious and offered as many drinks as necessary!  We chatted a bit and talk about their BMX & Jet Ski endurance runs… it’s fantastic the people you run into in the boating world… it makes it all worth while!  Oh ya… how could you forget Bruce from Bikini Bottom!  Bruce was also nice enough to offer his paddle boards to the boys if they wanted to use them… Thanks Bruce and nice talking with you, it was a lot of fun.

7-4

Ok, we are all starting to get a little stir crazy… it felt like ground hogs day… up for breakfast and then back to the hotel and mill around… Matt and Qwin tried their best at surfing however the rip tides from Hurricane Arthur where really strong and those guys didn’t feel comfortable in the water… also the waves really weren’t all that good!

That night we went to Mahi Ma for .50 cent wings, oysters and clams!  We killed it and then took a bus downtown for some DQ and walked around checking out the sights… Va. Beach in the summer is a very very busy place… filled with carnivals, music and bunches of shopping, there was something for everyone.

Before we headed back to the barn we had to make a pass at the Haunted House… they did a great job and everyone had a ball!  Ok, it wasn’t that scary but the guys at the Haunted House did a great job. :-)

The fireworks were canceled for tonight, so we are going to try for Morehead City and we are thinking we can make it to Morehead city, because they rescheduled their fireworks for the 5th like lots of other spots along the east coast this week.

Looking forward to a better week of running next week and who knows what is in store for us!

Today was a very stressful day. We rode for around 12 and a half hours for 185 miles. To start off I threw up twice in a time span of around 45 minutes. Second off We were all freezing and shivering our butts off. Today was as awful as the other day. The seas out front were horrendous and when we got to the pamlico sound it was a very choppy 70 miles. But the thing that was the best was seeing my cousins for the third time in my life. So at the end of the day it was all worth it. I hope we do some pretty fun things for the days that were here!

7/6/14 (Qwin)

Today was a day to rest up and gain back some energy from our long day yesterday. We are still in North Carolina at Kelly and Matt’s cousins house. We had an awesome breakfast and then went to the house were we left our skiis to pick them up and drive the rest of the way to morehead city. After we docked them we at a local dock we came back to the house and get ready to go out to dinner at Alex’s work (one of Kelly and Matt’s cousins). The good was really good and I’m having a good time spending a couple days here. Vinny, Alex, Sophia, and Alaina are all really fun to be around and very outgoing. All of the guys can really relate well too so it’s as if we are at home. I think we are staying one more day and leaving on Tuesday.

7/5/14 (Qwin)

Today was a tough day. We finally got out on the water again. We went probably over 140 miles. I just know it was a very long day. We first went around 65 miles on the ocean which was a very rough ride. We had our work cut out for us. We knew it was going to be a tough ride. And once we got inside we were hoping for it to be a little better and it wasn’t. It was just nasty water all the way through the sound. But eventually we reached the mouth of the river we were going to take up through to morehead city. But we were running out of time. With the sun setting we became very desperate and was forced to dock our skis in the backyard of someone’s house on a beach. Thankfully these people were incredibly nice and very friendly. They allowed us to dock the skiis on the beach and brought us into their house and gave us watermelon and cantaloupe and drinks. Not to mention this cracker dip they had. It was amazing. But they saved our butts out there. We are so thankful for that. We had 10 more miles to go. Low on fuel and light we were so fortunate that we were able to meet such nice people.

7/5/2014 – (Kelly)

Hellooooooo everyone,

Yesterday was honestly one heck of a day. We made it from Virginia Beach all the way to Morehead City. We rode from 7 in the morning until dark at around 8:30. We pulled up on a friendly strangers beach at around 8:45, and luckily they let us leave our skis there because the closest marina was about 10 miles away and we had no fuel and no more sunlight. I would personally like to thank the McDaid family again for their wonderful hospitality. We wouldn’t have been able to make it to our cousins house without your help.

Aside from that horror, we did make some new friends along the way. We met a few very nice people at the fuel dock in Oregon Inlet. Our fuel guy, Dick Armstrong, was such a great person. He said “Y’all can come have some watermelon, i just happen to have a half of one in my cooler” and he came out with a watermelon and a knife and we cut up some watermelon.

We ate the watermelon with these nice people right here:
