Well today was our one and only day of staying at the Watsons house in south carolina. We had a ton of fun the night before with Mr. Watsons son Hunter. We all hung out and had a good time. But today was about to be a little more exciting. We went out fishing and cast netted for bait. After we had our bait we went a couple miles out and fished for sharks along the jetty system they have. As time went by we were only catching black sea bass, and when my rod went off again it hit very lightly and we expected another sea bass, but was i wrong. The fish took off with the line and was pulling like crazy. After a few minutes of reeling and letting it take some line out, we pulled it up. Ill let you see the picture before i tell you what it is.
It was a baby hammerhead shark. That was a fun fish to catch. I cant imagine what realing in a 1000 pound hammerhead is like.
I took a couple more cool pictures on our adventure today and here they are.
I also have some picture specifically for Mr. Damico
Overall today was a fun day. Tomorrow we will be out on the water again. We will end up somewhere in Georgia.
Today was a beautiful day of riding for all of us. It was so smooth in the rivers behind south carolina. We were making very good time and advancing farther and farther in our trip. We were jumping wakes of big boats as they went by and were doing a bunch of other fun things on the skis that passed the time as we were going down the waterway that seemed like it would go on forever.
I took a few pictures of the waterway as we went down it.
Me Just Chillen out maxin relaxin all cool.
Today was a ton of fun and the ride was absolutely spectacular. This was definitely our best or second best day of riding.
Today we left from Morehead City NC at 8:40 AM. We had smooth riding all day today, except for the ride through the Cape Fear river, but that wasn’t so bad because the way the waves were coming at us, we were able to just stay on top of them. We made that 13 mile stretch in about 35-45 minutes. Here is a picture of Matt and I in the middle of the Fear River.
We were able to cruise at around 30-35 miles an hour all day today. It made for a very nice day and it was an overall successful day. We made it to Little River SC at about 7:30 PM and we pulled into a Marina Called Cricket Cove. Now, us being Grillo’s, we had to pull in there. For anyone that does not know, Grillo in italian means “Cricket”. So we pull in there and are greeted by a nice man named Steve. He said that we should just go about a half mile down the river and stay there because they had a marina and a hotel right next to each other. When we get there, Steve had driven down and met us and was able to let us use a friends slip free of charge! We were very grateful and happy to have a place to spend the night. I think today we traveled a total of about 120-125 miles. Well, off to dinner it is. We will be eating at a place called Chucks that is about 40 steps out the front door of our hotel.
Its been a while since i last posted. We’ve been having a ton of fun with our cousins Vinny, Alex, Sophie, and Angelina. We went jet skiing (not that we dont do enough of it already) , played ping pong, played tennis and soccer, and also went to a bunch of fun dinners with them. All of the days consisted of somewhat the same thing but all were fun so i decided to group them together into one big post.
Here is a ton of pictures from our few days together.
Our aunt Dina made us tons of wonderful meals that really hit the spot. We had such a good time in Morehead City with our cousins and aunt and uncle. I really wish we could hang out with them more often. It was a fun filled few days and I hope that we can hang out with them soon sometime again!
Yesterday was honestly one heck of a day. We made it from Virginia Beach all the way to Morehead City. We rode from 7 in the morning until dark at around 8:30. We pulled up on a friendly strangers beach at around 8:45, and luckily they let us leave our skis there because the closest marina was about 10 miles away and we had no fuel and no more sunlight. I would personally like to thank the McDaid family again for their wonderful hospitality. We wouldn’t have been able to make it to our cousins house without your help.
Aside from that horror, we did make some new friends along the way. We met a few very nice people at the fuel dock in Oregon Inlet. Our fuel guy, Dick Armstrong, was such a great person. He said “Y’all can come have some watermelon, i just happen to have a half of one in my cooler” and he came out with a watermelon and a knife and we cut up some watermelon.
We ate the watermelon with these nice people right here:
Now I cant believe i forgot your names, If any of “y’all” (have to use the lingo from down south) see this post, leave a comment and ill be sure to fix this post.
I’m having a great time so far and i cant wait for more days to come.
Just another few days of layin low in Virginia Beach. We really did nothing these past couple of days besides sitting inside and relaxing. You know, because we wont be outside alot already. Lol. We’ve been soaking up some rays and doing a little bit of fishing here and there but tomorrow will start the main part of our trip. We will be leaving for Morehead NC tomorrow morning to go see our “long lost” cousins. Cant wait to be sharing some cool stories with everyone soon.
Today was an exciting day, me and qwin went fishing off a pier on 15th street in Virginia Beach and we were catching spadefish. I actually caught the biggest one of the day out of everyone there.
The darn thing had some spikes on him that got me pretty good on the ring finger. Just a little slice down the tip of it so it was no big deal. We had a great time out a dinner with the Antonelli’s. We went to a sushi place called Yama (Im pretty sure thats what it was called. I believe that this dinner was the most sushi i have ever eaten in one sitting. . .
Here it is
:
All in all, it was a great day. Cant wait for what tomorrow has in store.
Little late on this post but there was a good reason. Leaving from Chincoteauge this morning we made our way to the beginning of the 27 mile bridge that takes you across the Chesapeake Bay. We had lunch at our favorite stop along the way to florida. I had a Jumbo lump crab cake sandwich and boy did that hit the spot. Heres a picture of us at lunch.
My ski sucked up a bunch of shells and is causing it to ride hard, and of course this happens right before we have to cross the Chesapeake Bay. Now if you think the ski riding hard was a big problem, you’re wrong. Little did we know, the Chesapeake bay held 3-4 foot waves in store for us the entire way. It took us two and a half hours to cross the bay. We traveled that long at 7 miles per hour. It was the worst ride on anything that floats that I have ever been on. But we were rewarded greatly with one heck of a dinner at a place in Virginia Beach called il Giardino’s II. I had clams and spaghetti in a red sauce that was ridiculously good. Heres the desert i had =D
THAT WAS GREAT! haha, well i think thats enough for one day. We are gonna be staying in Virginia Beach until friday because of this storm that is coming through. We will be fine here on land. . .
Today was one heck of a day. In my first 45 minutes i fell of the ski twice. Now believe me, i did it to save the ski from flipping. Haha. But other then that, our trip really did turn out to be an adventure. . . We saw big rays, sandsharks, and even some wild horses. Here they are:
The crossing on the Delaware bay was unbelievable. It was so smooth that it looked like we were crossing a flat in the back bay. Speaking of flats in the bay, did i mention that we got stuck for 2 hours today? Oh yea, thats kind of interesting. Matt got his ski stuck right before low tide switched to high, so luckily we only had to wait about 2 hours before it came up. . . Well i am physically and mentally drained. As of right now i havent even ate dinner yet. It’s coming from a place called Marias on chincoteague island… im starving… Goodnight =D
As you all know, our trip is almost here and the prepping has been CRAZY. As Dad, Matthew and I (Little Kelly) have been working like mad men to get this trip up and running, Dad has to get most of the Spotlight.
Where will this adventure take us?? Well, the ultimate destination is Nassau in the Bahamas to stay for a few nights in Atlantis, but we will be making tons of little stops all the way down the eastern coast to Florida.
Now, to talk about how we have prepared for the trip. . . We purchased a rescue sled that surfers use to rescue other surfers from getting crushed by big waves out in California.
They attach it to a jet ski (like we will be doing to ours, obviously =P), and fly out to surfers in distress and pick them up. The one that we acquired was also designed for carrying scuba gear, spearfishing gear, or just general equipment for different things. But my dad, being the somewhat mad scientist he is, came up with a design that would hold our surfboards, dive gear, and camping equipment.
Now if that didn’t sound crazy enough, he converted a pelican box (impervious to water and the elements) to house all of our electronics and use a SOLAR PANEL hooked up to a wheelchair battery to charge up all of our electronics when we stop at night. Yes, it seems crazy, but on a trip like this where we may not be able to get to a hotel with outlets, its going to save our butts if we need our cellphones or something of that nature.
Now having read all of the things we have done, I think you deserve some pictures. . . Here they are:
Thank you for being so interested in our trip. It makes happy to know that we have somewhat of a fan base you could say, that will be following us on our trip to the Bahamas. Many more posts to come. . .
